Meet Tiffany Chin
May 2026
This month, we're featuring the work of Tiffany Chin, an award-winning illustrator from Toronto, Ontario, whose affinity for layered textural finishes has been a fixture of our Instagram feed since 2020.
Inspired by the bold, psychedelic posters and music of the 60s and 70s, Tiffany's work steps beyond the boundaries of convention to create intricate work that balances organic forms with geometric compositions, resulting in an aesthetic that feels grounded yet wildly expressive.

What's the first thing you ever got paid to draw?
It was towards the end of my time in art school when I was paid to draw either a comic strip for Exclaim Magazine or a merch design for Frankie And The Witch Fingers. Perhaps both were occurring at the same time.
Vector, raster, or both?
I prefer working in raster because I find the process of hand-drawing illustrations therapeutic. Vector definitely has its place in certain applications, but I love the process of inking something with a pen (or stylus), and having those wonky imperfections.
What’s your creative superpower?
I’ve been told my choice of colour is pretty alright, but I think my superpower is being able to create surreal designs that somehow make sense compositionally.

True Grit tools you can’t live without?
Probably all of them. My toolkit mostly focuses on The Rusty Nib, Beat Tones, Stipple Studio, and the various paper textures from Infinite Pulp.
Layers must be named and ordered from foreground to background. I don’t enjoy dealing with the headache of trying to identify between unnamed layers. Probably be bands/musicians I listen to currently, or grew up listening to. The list is too long to name, but it would be cool to create something for Paul McCartney, Pearl Jam, or Foo Fighters. 99% of the time, it is straight to digital, where I’ll draw with an idea in mind and organically riff off that. The other 1% of the time, I’ll do a few chicken scratches to brainstorm. Making people lazy and lacking critical thinking skills. Do comic books count? The last book I read was Jenn Woodall’s Space Trash Vol. 1. She’s wickedly skilled and her use of colour to convey mood really stood out to me. Last band I saw live was Idles. Super energetic band with lyrics that speak on a greater level. Layers: organized or chaos?
Who's your dream client?
