The Dead Subtle Brush Set:
Free as can be for newsletter subscribers

Built for daily abuse from genuine worn-out print and paper specimens, these little suckers will add subtle paper and worn ink effects to your work quicker than you can ask ‘who’s in the coffin?’

For best effect, try a few of the following techniques.
  1. Just point and click. With no hard edges, they can be repeated and tiled without any obvious joins

  2. Use the brushes at 100% Brush Transparency and Flow on a separate layer, then adjust layer transparency to adjust the level of subtlety of the effect. You may even want to try messing around with the transparency blend style.

  3. Use your foreground or paper colour over dark areas of your artwork to achieve a worn paper look.

  4. Use your background colour over lighter areas of your artwork to create a worn ink or ink transfer look
